Since it's one of the more pan-Asian holidays today, here's one of my favorite bits of more pan-Asian architecture: the arched gateways called torana in ancient India , & which became paifang in China ,  hongsalmun in Korea ,  torii in Japan ,  sao ching cha in Thailand , Kori agung in Bali and etcs.  source

A Temple goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to temples every now n then. He wrote: "I've gone for 30 years now, & in that time I have heard something like 3,000 teachings, but for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them.
